ANSA: Safeguarding the Legacy of Ancient Egypt through Archaeological Rescue
At ANSA, our core mission is to rescue, study, and preserve the irreplaceable heritage of ancient Egypt—a civilization whose remnants are increasingly threatened by time, neglect, and environmental pressures. Driven by a deep commitment to Egyptology and cultural heritage preservation, we engage in urgent archaeological initiatives aimed at recovering and protecting sites and artifacts at risk of permanent loss. Our work is not merely scholarly; it is a race against time. And to continue, we need your support.
Our Objectives
- Archaeological Rescue and Fieldwork: We actively participate in archaeological excavations and emergency interventions in North Sinai, focusing on endangered sites and structures. Our teams work in the field to recover buried histories, document vulnerable remains, and stabilize areas facing imminent destruction or degradation.
- Conservation of Cultural Heritage: Beyond excavation, our commitment extends to the meticulous conservation of artifacts and monuments. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, we ensure that each recovered piece is preserved under optimal conditions, contributing to a broader understanding of the ancient world.
- Scholarly and Public Communication: ANSA is dedicated to transforming archaeological findings into accessible knowledge. Through academic publications, exhibitions, lectures, and educational programs, we foster a global appreciation of Egypt's cultural legacy and the urgency of its protection.
ANSA is a non-profit association, officially registered since 2024 with the Ministry of the Interior. National Registry of Associations in Spain: Section 1st / National Number 629623.
According to its Statutes, the ANSA Association states that:
- The overarching objective of the Mission is to carry out a comprehensive investigation of Tell el-Ghaba, based on the study of materials recovered from the excavations and their archaeological contexts, the reconstruction of past environmental conditions, and the analysis of the site's urban layout.
- Our aim is to gain insight into the site's economy and social structure, and to interpret the role of Tell el-Ghaba within the Egyptian frontier, as well as its potential interactions with other sites in the eastern Delta, northern Sinai, the Levant, and the eastern Mediterranean.
- With the above, we seek to promote knowledge about ancient northern Sinai and the eastern Delta in Spain and around the world.
ACTIVITIES:
To achieve these objectives, the following activities will be primarily undertaken:
- Fieldwork and laboratory analyses within the study area.
- A comprehensive dissemination and outreach plan designed to communicate research progress and share results with both the academic community and the general public.
- Reciprocal collaboration between the Association, the mission projects, the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) — Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities — and the Directorate General of Antiquities of Northern Sinai.
- Educational, environmental, and cultural campaigns focused on the heritage, culture, and history of northern Sinai.
- Formalization of collaboration agreements (Memoranda of Understanding).
- Implementation of a coherent impact plan addressing the project’s local, economic, and scientific societal effects.
